If you are mining to get gold, many will get a pan, or a piece of equipment, or both and get right to it where gold is rumored to be. But how many actually become “wealthy”? Do they set out to become wealthy or just enough to get by? Some look for nuggets, some look for the whole vein. Depending on your goals, you will have to decide. In the Bible (Haggai 2:8), God says, “All the gold and silver is mine, says the Lord.” So what are we supposed to do?
The currency of reality in many minds is money. To some it’s power over others. To others it’s submission of others. Is that it? Have it, and then poof, you’re gone? That is short sighted. As a contrast in business, building relationship networks is a worthy goal when it comes to expanding your business, helping folks find available jobs, or to refer an interested party to a source that can be trusted.
God expects us to use the currency of godly passion, sincere compassion, and spiritual investment as currency. That’s because it moves treasures ahead into heaven, not to be squandered here on earth. Look how we do. Are we looking for just the next nugget, the next job, the next promotion, the next house, the next car? Or are we going to choose something that’s a vein, like a life of integrity and honesty? Like a vein of self-sacrifice in the service to others on a mission field? Like a life of empathy while listening to folks who are in deep despair, and sharing hope and peace daily?
Think about that today. Dwell on your priorities and why, then decide on a course of action that will stand the test of time. Thank you Don Talbert.
